Rhode Island marks first 4/20 with legalized marijuana
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Thursday marked the first 4/20 holiday with legalized recreational marijuana sales in Rhode Island after it was legalized last May.
Rhode Islanders were celebrating the unofficial holiday legally from early in the morning, with people in Warwick gathered outside the Solar Cannabis dispensary before the business opened its doors at 9 a.m.
In addition to offering deals and discounts, like many other dispensaries across the country on the April 20 holiday, Solar in Warwick also hosted a party outside its store, with food trucks and vendors lined up starting at 11 a.m.
Business at Solar was off to a busy start Thursday, with store officials telling ABC 6 News there was a high volume of customers in the first few hours after opening.
