Rhode Island men arrested for kidnapping in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police Public Information Officer Scott Carola said that two Rhode Island men were arrested after allegedly attempting to kidnapping a juvenile and attempting to kidnap woman.
Fabio Da Silveira of Providence and Muhammed Abdur-Razzak of Pawtucket were arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and receiving a stolen vehicle among several other charges.
On June 22 police received a report from a woman that two men attempted to enter her vehicle while at a gas station near Acushnet Avenue and Phillips Road.
The suspects then blocked her car with their own and brandished firearms at her.
Officers then spotted the vehicle, which contained the two suspects and a juvenile female. It was found to have been stolen a week prior and had an illegal license plat attached.
Carola said police spoke to the female, who told them she was being held against her will and was verbally and physically assaulted by Da Silveira. She was then transported to the hospital for treatment.
