PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Studies on child vaccinations state-by-state find that Rhode Island kids are more protected than other states.

The report comes from Nick VinZant, a senior research analyst and insurance expert who surveyed child flu and COVID-19 vaccination rates for all 50 states in 2022.

Their research found that 80% of children in the Ocean State are reported to have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.

The data also shows 79% of Rhode Island kids have gotten their flu shot, putting the state at the top of their list.

Closely following in second place is the Bay State, reporting 82 percent of kids having received a COVID-19 shot but only 56% have their flu vaccine.

The group reported the states with the lowest vaccination rate in children are Wyoming, Mississippi and Tennessee.

From their research, they were also able to conclude that 41 million U.S. children have not received a COVID-19 vaccination and 39 million are without a flu vaccination.
