Rhode Island State Police arrest 2 in Providence after traffic stop

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said they arrested two men following  traffic stop on Friday.

State Police said 31-year-old Kyrell Clark and Rashaad Martin, 36, were arrested after Clark attempted to flee the stop on foot.

According to police, a subsequent search of the car found a 9mm Luger handgun in the driver’s-side door and another 9mm pistol in the glovebox.

Authorities said Clark was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of license or permit required for carrying a pistol
  • Two counts of large capacity feeding devices prohibited
  • Posession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence
  • Posession of a weapon other than a firearm (knife over three inches)
  • Obstructing an officer
  • Disorderly conduct

Police said Martin is facing similar charges including license or permit required for carrying a pistol and conspiracy.

Both Clark and Martin were arraigned and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston.
