Rhode Island State Police arrest Department of Labor and Training employee accused of stealing over $115K

FOSTER, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State police arrested a Foster woman accused of stealing over $115,000 from the Department of Labor and Training.

State police said that 59-year-old Wendy Antonelli stole 132 settlement checks worth a total of $115,252.72 while working as chief labor and standards examiner.

An investigation found that Antonelli forged checks from 132 employees and deposited them into her bank account.

Antonelli turned herself into state police headquarters Thursday, after police got a warrant for her arrest, and was released on $10,000 personal recognizance.

She was charged with the following:

  • Obtaining money under false pretenses
  • Forgery
  • Counterfeiting in general and money laundering
