Rhode Island ticket wins $30K in Mega Millions draw

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — After there were no winners in last nights drawing, the Mega Millions has now turned into the Mega Billions.

However, someone wasn’t left empty handed. A Rhode Island ticket won $30,000 in last nights drawing. The ticket matched four out of the five numbers, plus the Mega Ball number, which is an automatic $10,000.

Since the Megaplier feature was added, the $10,000 was tripled. The winning ticket was purchased at Dave’s Marketplace in Cumberland. The ticket has yet to be claimed.

As for the big jackpot, this is the fourth time in the 20-year history, the jackpot has catapulted over the $1 billion mark.

If the $1.025 billion jackpot is won, the winner gets a lump sum of $602.5 million if they chooses the cash option.

The next Mega Millions drawing will be at 11 p.m. Friday. The drawings take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
