The generosity of Rhode Islanders was very visible Wednesday morning at Children’s Friend in Providence.

The ABC6 News morning crew Mike LaCrosse, Doreen Scanlon and Chelsea Priest helped sort presents donated to children in need, getting them ready to be delivered to families across the area.

The toys, clothing, and household necessities are donated by individuals and organizations for more than 4500 children.

Despite this amazing show of support, Children’s Friend is only halfway to their goal – there are still 620 families in need of a sponsor.

To sponsor a family, go to  spiritofgivingdrive.org or call (401) 276-4346. You can also donate at Children’s Friend headquarters at 153 Summer Street in Providence  and at Panera Bread locations throughout the state.
