Rhode Islanders on unemployment will have to prove they’re looking for a job to qualify

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Requirements for people collecting Rhode Island unemployment benefits will soon change.

The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training says Rhode Islanders will have to prove they are actively looking for work to be able to collect their benefits.

This comes as several business, especially restaurants, report they are struggling to fill open positions.

The Federal Hill Commerce Association told ABC6 news there are 300 open positions on the hill alone.
