Rhode Island’s 4th annual Torch Run Truck Convoy for Special Olympics

WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Nearly 50 trucks from more than thirty trucking companies participated in Rhode Island’s first Torch Run Truck Convoy for Special Olympics RI Sunday morning.

The event was co-hosted by Special Olympics Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Trucking Association and various state enforcement agencies, the convoy began at the IGT Headquarters parking lot in West Greenwich led by a police escort, drove up Interstate 95 to Route 146 through Providence and returned to West Greenwich vie Route 95.

After looping the state, participants enjoyed complimentary full breakfast provided by Twin Catering and lunch from Dan’s Place.

“Today was a perfect day to showcase our industry’s pride and professionalism in support of a great cause,” said Chris Maxwell, president of the Rhode Island Trucking Association.  “I am grateful to all who participated and made this year’s event a success.”
