Rhode Island’s Jared Donaldson Plays Well Before Losing in US Open

Rhode Island’s Jared Donaldson surprised 20th ranked Gael Monfils of France in the opening round of the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament.  AT age 17, Jared was the youngest player to earn a wild card berth in the tournament.  The top ranked U.S. teenager showed his speed and agility during the match.  Monfils ended up winning, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

Donaldson won the RI state singles title for Ponaganset in 2012.  Jared will play doubles on Thursday in Flushing Meadows.
