RI approved for sixth and final week of FEMA unemployment assistance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Rhode Island has been approved for a sixth and final week of unemployment assistance, according to the Department of Labor and Training.

Those eligible can receive up to $1,800 in additional assistance from the FEMA-funded program.

Margaux Fontaine, a spokesperson for the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, says that DLT started sending out payments for weeks four and five Wednesday morning.

Fontaine states in an email, “Some people will begin to see that payment as early as today or tomorrow, and the remaining qualified claimants should expect to see the money by this time next week.”
