R.I. DEM seeks lifeguards and rangers for 2020 summer season
PROVIDENCE,R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is seeking lifeguards, rangers, and other seasonal employees for the upcoming summer recreation season.
Rhode Island residents aged 16 and older are encouraged to visit the department’s employment page for a complete list of available jobs.
Highlighting a lack of teenage employees during last season, the DEM is encouraging senior citizens and retired military personal to apply.
Candidates for lifeguard positions must have valid training, including first-aid and CPR certification.
Full and part-time positions are available at state beaches including Misquamicut and Roger Wheeler, along with freshwater beaches like Lincoln Woods.
The department needs between 400 and 450 seasonal employees to attend to the steady stream of visitors to Rhode Island’s parks and beaches. Nearly 9 million visitors flock the state’s attractions each summer, according to state records.
