PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Parole Board denied parole for the man convicted of stealing a police cruiser, leading to a manhunt and fatal shooting on Route 95 in Providence in 2017.

Donald Morgan was sentenced to serve 3 and a half years in State Prison after stealing a State Police cruiser while being transported to court and sparking a string of incidents, ultimately ending in the death of 32-year-old Joseph Santos in an officer-involved shooting.

Rhode Island Parole board officials told ABC6 that the Parole Board heard Morgan’s case Monday and voted to deny parole without reconsideration.

Morgan will be forced to serve his sentence in its entirety. He is expected to be released in 2020.
