PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Several branches of the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles will temporarily close as the switch to a new computer system begins.

Starting Monday, the Wakefield office will close through July 18th.

Other offices in the state will only close for a few days in July.

Temporarily shutting down the branches will allow staff to be trained on the new system.

DMV officials want to remind drivers that some transactions can be done online or at AAA.
