RI Emergency Management Issues Warning About Icy Roads

Rhode Island's Emergency Management Agency issued a warning Tuesday about icy roads.

A mix of snow, freezing rain and rain coupled with falling temperatures at night is expected to cause more treacherous road conditions.

Here's the full statement from the EMA:

The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Storm Warning, mainly for ice, further south and east to include Windham County in northeast Connecticut, northwest Providence County in Rhode Island, and essentially the rest of interior Massachusetts west and north of route 128.

Temperatures along the coast will rise above freezing by midday but much of the interior may remain below freezing for most of the storm.  The greatest concern is the potential for significant ice accretion.  We see a high risk of one half to three-quarter inch ice accretion across northern Connecticut, northwest Rhode Island, and interior Massachusetts north and west of route 128 including the Mass Pike, route 2, and I-91 corridors.
