The Rhode Island House of Representatives is set to choose a new House Speaker today.

Gordon Fox announced his resignation on Saturday after federal officials raided his home and State House office on Friday.

House Majority Leader Nicholas Mattiello is seeking the speakership and says he has enough votes to secure the State House's top spot. Representative Michael Marcello is also vying for the position. The person who wins the speaker election must have 38 votes from other representatives.

Speaker Pro Tem Elaine Coderre will lead the session which will begin at 4 p.m. and the House Speaker vote is expected to take place shortly after.
