Eleven Rhode Island lawmakers took to the sky Sunday, jumping out of a plane to raise money for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

"It was important for us to align ourselves with an organization that does so much for the community," said State Representative Bobby Nardolillo.

The group took to sky diving to raise awareness and more than $3,000 for the organization.

"We’re the greatest nation in the world," Representative James McLaughlin said. "No one should be able to go hungry."

The legislative leap, was the first of it’s kind in Rhode Island but more than likely not the last.

They hope to be back in the sky, with a bigger crowd of legislators, again next year.
