EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. & SEEKONK, MASS. (WLNE) – Environmental officials in Rhode Island and Massachusetts are warning people to avoid three bodies of water along the state line.

An algae bloom is affecting Turner Reservoir, which straddles the line between East Providence and Seekonk; Omega Pond in Rumford; and the Ten Mile River in that area.

A toxin formed by that algae can make people sick who drink it, swim in it, or eat fish caught there.

Pets can be affected as well and should be kept away from the water.
