A Rhode Island man is heading to Texas to lend a helping hand to those affected by the flooding.

American Red Cross volunteer Henry Lesieur is leaving first thing Sunday morning.

He’s traveling to Austin, Texas where he will serve as a disaster mental health supervisor.

Lesieur previously helped out after major flooding in Colorado and says he is ready to hit the ground running.

"For the most part it’s calming people down and showing them how to relax and teaching them what’s going on with their kids, because their kids are having all sorts of reactions," said Lesieur.

Lusieur will be in Texas for about 2 weeks and he is one of close to 3,000 Red Cross volunteers from this region to lend a helping hand.
