Man injured after Twin River arrest has assault conviction

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A Rhode Island man who suffered a brain injury after being arrested at the Twin River Casino more than a week ago had previously admitted to assaulting two police officers in Massachusetts.
Court records show 41-year-old Daniel Finn pleaded guilty to assaulting two Attleboro police officers in 2006.
A police report says Finn refused orders to drop a knife. Officers were called after he grabbed a kitchen knife and said he planned to kill himself.
Court records show a judge sentenced Finn in 2007 to six months in jail with 30 days to serve. That sentence was deemed served.
A Rhode Island Hospital spokeswoman says Finn is in critical condition.
His lawyer on the Attleboro case declined comment. His current attorney did not immediately return a message.
