RI Mom to Face Trial for Daughter’s 2009 Death

WAKEFIELD, R.I. (AP) – A Rhode Island mother who, prosecutors say, wrote a note saying she was “beaten down by an 8-year-old” goes on trial later this week on charges she strangled her only
child after the girl refused to take a bath.

North Kingstown resident Kimberly Fry is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Camden, who was found dead in her bed on Aug. 11, 2009. Opening statements are
expected on Wednesday in Washington County Superior Court.

Court filings depict Fry as a troubled woman who saw herself as an inadequate and frustrated mother who thought life would be better without her daughter.

She has pleaded not guilty. Her public defender, Sarah Wright, spoke to The Associated Press, but later asked that her comments not be published.
