RI oranizations rally to invest in communities and services.
PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Community members, elected officials, and local organizations plan to rally at the State House on Saturday with the message to invest in communities.
The event is co-hosted by Reclaim RI; DARE (Direct Action for Rights and Equality); The Economic Progress Institute; The Womxn Project, Providence Democratic Socialists of America; RI Working Families Party.
According to the release, the investments in services would come from additional taxes on those who can afford it.
Speakers will include representatives, and organization leaders, who will stress why they feel raising taxes on the wealthiest residents in the state will ensure proper services for schools, healthcare, etc.
The release says the funds would come at a crucial time during the pandemic.
The rally will be on the mall side of the State House at 2:00 PM.
