RI reports 160 new COVID-19 cases, 8 additional deaths

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Health released the latest COVID-19 numbers for the state on Wednesday.

Eight new deaths have been reported, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,147.

160 new positive cases were reported out of the 5,954 tests taken on Tuesday with a 2.7% positivity rate.

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and Health Director Nicole Alexander-Scott will be holding a weekly coronavirus briefing this afternoon at 1 p.m. where she is expected to speak about the uptick of cases in schools, as well as additional information on Central Falls and Providence Schools.
