RI reports 264 new cases of COVID-19, 8 additional deaths

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) –  The Rhode Island Department of Health provided the latest COVID-19 data on Tuesday.

The state reported 264 new positive cases of the virus and 8 deaths from Monday.

These fatalities set the state’s death toll at 2,525.

RIDOH said 157 Rhode Islanders are currently hospitalized for the virus. Of those hospitalized, 25 patients are in the ICU and 17 are on a ventilator.

Health officials stated 9,654 tests were taken on Monday, which collected a 2.7% positivity rate.

So far 78,350 Rhode Islanders have been fully vaccinated.
