PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Leaders of the Rhode Island Senate are set to unveil their proposal to aid workforce development.
The legislation will be accompanied by a report on what's needed to help workers get the skills they need for a 21st century job market.
Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed says workforce training is one of her top issues for the legislative session, which began earlier this month. She has said she wants to direct more state funding to efforts helping workers find job training and assistance programs.
The legislation and report will be released Tuesday afternoon at the Statehouse.
The state's unemployment rate is 9 percent, the highest in the nation.
