COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police announced the arrest of convicted felon in possession of several guns.

State police said Joseph Michael DaSilva, 47, of Coventry was arrested Thursday on weapon charges.

Police said they executed a warrant on DaSilva’s home and discovered a handgun on his person and two additional firearms inside his home.

DaSilva was formally charged with illegally possessing weapons and possession of a large capacity feeding device.

DaSilva’s arrest is one of several state police gun-related arrests that have been announced this week.

He appeared in court on Friday where he was held without bail due to his past criminal history.
