RI State Police arrest Florida man after displaying handgun during alleged “road rage” incident

EAST GREENWICH, RI (WLNE) – State Police say they arrested a Florida man in East Greenwich Sunday night during an alleged “road rage” incident where he displayed a handgun and a baton to the other driver.
State Police say they received a call around 10:10 p.m. to respond to the area of Route 4 northbound in the area of Division Road for a “road rage” incident.
When arriving at the scene troopers found Joseph Francis, 34, of Pompano Beach, Florida to be in the possession of a loaded .357 Smith and Wesson revolver.
Police also found additional ammunition, cocaine, and marijuana in Francis’ car.
Francis was also alleged to be driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs, according to State Police.
State Police later arrested Francis and charged with the following:
1.) Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon (2 Counts)
2.) Using a Firearm when Committing a Crime of Violence (2 Counts)
3.) License or Permit Required for carrying a Pistol
4.) Carrying of Weapon while Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs
5.) Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I-V (Cocaine)
6.) Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs – 1st Offense – B.A.C. Unknown
7.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test
8.) , Weapons other than Firearms Prohibited
9) Disorderly Conduct
10.) Possession of Marijuana.
