NY motorist charged with possession of 60 pounds of marijuana

WEST GREENWICH, RI (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police announced that a New York motorist was arrested Friday morning and charged with possession of 60 pounds of marijuana. 

The arrest occurred around 11:15 a.m. Friday morning when troopers stopped a van heading north on Interstate 95 near Weaver Hill in West Greenwich for a motor vehicle violation.

Fang P. Li, 34, of Brooklyn, NY, was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver and Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, 5 kg or greater.

State Police seized an estimated $120,000 worth of marijuana and $1,156 cash.

Li is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions, pending formal arraignment in Third Division District Court on Monday.
