RI Stripper to Appear in Court for Police Chief Case
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The Rhode Island stripper at the center of a theft case involving North Providence's suspended police chief is due in court next week on unrelated matters.
Court records show 21-year-old Justina Cardoso is scheduled to appear on Monday in two Providence courts.
John Whiting is accused of stealing $714 from Cardoso's pocketbook following a police chase last month. Whiting has yet to appear before a judge on the larceny and obstruction of justice charges.
Cardoso has a violation of bail hearing in Providence Superior Court on Monday on an extortion, blackmail and conspiracy case.
She is also scheduled to appear in 6th District Court for a pre-arraignment hearing in a drug case.
Defense attorney John Grasso said earlier this month that Cardoso had no comment on the Whiting matter.
