RIC Wrestler Takes 7th In NCAA Division III Championships

Gauthier Earns Wraps Up Competition
With a Seventh Place Finish at
the NCAA Championships

LaCrosse, Wisc.—Junior 125 lbs. Brandon Gauthier (Lowell, MA) went 3-2 and placed seventh, earning All-American status, at the NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships.

Gauthier opened the final day of competition vs. SUNY Cortland's Dave Colagiovanni and lost, 6-1. He pinned Cornell College's Tim Hood in just 17 seconds to finish seventh.

On Friday, he started the day with a pin at 5:34 over fourth-seeded Jacob Scholten from Augustana. Later in the evening, fifth-seeded Riki Reynolds from Mt. Union defeated him, 8-3. Gauthier, the N.E. Champion, won his next match in the All-American Round, 5-2 in TB1,  vs. Jordan Alfaro from the Merchant Marine Academy.

He finished the season with a 40-8 overall record.
