RIDOH gives update on Tuesday’s vaccine appointment availability

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Department of Health will be opening an additional 1,890 first dose vaccination appointments at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Department of Health tells ABC6 that the reason that there is so few first dose appointments is because “most of our vaccine this week is being used for second doses.”

There are 48,000 shots arriving every week, but that number is set to increase in the coming weeks, according to RIDOH.

Anyone looking to secure an appointment can do so at https://www.vaccinateri.org.

RIDOH says that they have addressed the issues with the traffic on the registration website.

The Department of Health says that there is a “waiting room” in development. This will get rid of the problem where people would see available appointments when they were already being booked.

The waiting room won’t be up by Tuesday, but will be up in the near future.
