RIDOH recommends closing several beaches for swimming

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said several beaches are closed to swimmers on Thursday.

Kingston’s Camp Beach in Kingston, Camp Watchaug Beach in Charlestown, Camp Canonicus Beach in Exeter, and Kent County YMCA Beach in Warwick were closed after water quality tests showed unsafe levels of bacteria.

Officials said they will continue to monitor the bacteria levels and water quality through Labor Day.
