RIDOH reports 1,216 new positive cases of COVID-19, 11 fatalities

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 11 new deaths and 1,216 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

Of the 18,317 tests taken the previous day, the department reported a 6.6% positivity rate.

There are currently 466 Rhode Islanders hospitalized for the virus.  48 people are in the ICU and 25 are on a ventilator.

The state’s death toll now stands at 1,509.

Rhode Island has reported a total of 70,818 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March.
