RIDOH reports 776 new cases of COVID-19, 8 deaths since Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Department of Health released the latest coronavirus data on Monday.
The state reported 776 new cases of the virus and 8 additional deaths since Friday.
Rhode Island’s death toll now stands at 2,549.
Out of the 4,695 tests taken the previous day, RIDOH reported a 4.3% positivity rate.
There are currently 133 Rhode Islanders hospitalized for the virus. 21 of these patients are in the ICU and 15 are on a ventilator.
A total of 232,379 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and health officials said 91,387 Rhode Islanders have been fully vaccinated.
On Monday, CDC health officials said a person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last required dose of vaccine. About 30 million Americans — or only about 9% of the U.S. population — have been fully vaccinated with a federally authorized COVID-19 vaccine so far, according to the CDC.
