RIDOH suspends counselor’s license over alleged inappropriate relationship with student

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A mental health counselor had their license suspended by the Rhode Island Department of Health after allegations were brought forward about an inappropriate relationship with an underaged student.

According to RIDOH documents obtained by ABC 6 News, Celine Vescera was employed as a mental health counselor since 2019 and worked for a school in Exeter.

Documents dated on Friday, August 4, allege that during her time employed at the school, she was providing services to a student, which later developed into a romantic relationship.

The department said after the discovery of the alleged relationship, they received multiple calls from school staff, relatives and Rhode Island State Police regarding the matter.

Viscera is also accused of providing false statements to RIDOH in an effort to conceal the relationship and mislead investigators.

She is set to face hearing with a RIDOH disciplinary board at a later date.
