RIHousing announces data breach from 2022

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Customers of RIHousing and Mortgage Finance Corp. were notified that their personal information was involved in a data breach.

The company announced Thursday that customers’ sensitive information was breached last spring.

According to RIHousing spokeswoman Christine Hunsinger, the breach affected customers of financial institutions throughout the country, including customers of RIHousing.

Customers’ names, addresses and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers were exposed.

NewCourse Communications, a third party vendor for RIHousing offered a free year of credit monitoring services in response to the breach.

Hunsinger added that there is no current evidence to suggest any of this information has been used in suspicious activities.
