RIPTA Detours Bus Routes Because Of Snow

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority announced Tuesday that it's detouring eight bus routes because of the snow.

RIPTA said the streets have narrowed in many areas making it extremely difficult for buses to travel safely. 

The following routes are on detour until further notice:

Route 1 (Eddy/Gaspee):

Inbound trips will not serve Eddy Street between Broad Street and Byfield Street.  

Route 6 (Prairie Avenue):

Outbound and Inbound trips will travel via Prairie Avenue.  

Service to the main entrance of CCRI has been suspended. 

 

Route 42 (Hope Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Hope and Olney Streets, right onto Olney Street, right onto North Main Street, left u-turn onto North Main Street, continuing southbound towards Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips will leave Providence via a left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street to Hope and Olney Streets and then resume regular route.

Route 49 (Camp Street):

Inbound and Outbound trips will not service Hope Street between Olney Street and the Thayer Street Tunnel. 

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.):

Service to the Providence VA Medical Center has been suspended.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Service to Bay View Apartments has been suspended.

Route 64 (Newport/URI):

Outbound and Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Girard Avenue, right onto Girard Avenue, right onto Maple Avenue, left onto Connoll Highway and then resume regular route.

Route 64 will not service CCRI Newport.

Route 64 will not circle the Bay Campus and will turn around at the Visitors Center.

Route 92 (Green Line Trolley):

Outbound and Inbound trips will travel via Hope Street to Wickenden Street to Ives Street.  The trolley will not serve Brook Street, Trenton Street or Governor Street.
