PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced on Thursday due to the extreme cold, the hours at the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center will be extended.

Authorities say the center, which normally closes around 7 p.m., will remain open until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15th, and Friday, December 16th.

RIPTA officials want to give passengers a warm place to stay while waiting for their buses, but advise that the hours for the ticket window will not be extended.

The ticket window will be staffed during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In addition, anyone looking for more information on nearby warming centers can check a list being compiled by the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) here.
