Officials at RIPTA are looking for a Good Samaritan after jumped into the driver’s seat of a moving bus on an exit ramp on I-95 in Providence and turned it away from hitting another car.

There was no driver inside the bus because he was out helping someone who was having an emergency medical issue.

“In a very short span of time we had two Good Samaritans first our driver taking care of someone with a medical issue and then our unknown Good Samaritan who jumped into the bus and then guided it to safety,” say Mayor Scott Avedisian, Chairman of the RIPTA Board.

The unknown hero who stopped the bus told police he had a commercial driver’s license and took off.

RIPTA officials are hoping to find and thank him.
