RIPTA’s ‘Ride Free Central Falls’ pilot program expands to Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority says passengers at the new Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center can now ride for free with the Wave app.
RIPTA extended its year-long “Ride Free Central Falls” pilot program through Aug. 1. It first launched in March of last year.
During the pilot program, RIPTA says it used software to create virtual boundary around the city. Now, that boundary includes the two bus stops at the new hub.
To ride free, Central Falls residents will have to board with a RIPTA Wave smart card at no charge or download the Wave mobile app.
