RISD workers once again go on ‘unfair labor practice’ strike
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A group of custodians, groundskeepers, and movers represented by a union are once again on strike Monday at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Teamsters Local 251 said those workers are striking because RISD has failed to negotiate.
Nearly three weeks ago, some RISD workers went on a one-day strike. This one, the union said, is open-ended.
In a statement to ABC 6 News, RISD said the union leaders aren’t working with the college productively and are demanding benefit and wage increased that go beyond what RISD considers fiscally responsible.
The workers started striking at 4 a.m. Monday.
