RISD President announces departure from the school

RISD's President is leaving for Silicon Valley, John Maeda announced his depature from the Art and Design school Wednesday afternoon.
Maeda will become a partner in a design firm in California and will leave at the end of the year. Maeda, a designer and former MIT professor, became RISD president in 2008.
Governor Lincoln Chafee released the following statement:
“Under his watch, in late 2012, Business Insider named RISD the No. 1 design school in the world. John Maeda leaves the school in good standing and a better place. Through his hard work, he has made RISD a more innovative and creative college. I personally wish him the very best in his new pursuit on the West Coast.”
