RISP: Three-time offender arrested on child pornography charges in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence man was arrested Thursday for the third time on child pornography charges.
Matthew Viano, 35, of Providence, was arrested following an investigation by a State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force into sharing child pornography on the internet.
Members of the ICAC Task Force identified Viano as a suspect, arresting him and seizing suspected narcotics from his Chapin Avenue home Thursday.
Viano faces the following charges:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Possession of Controlled Substance, Schedule I, II, III (methamphetamine)
- Possession of Controlled Substance, Schedule I, II, III, IV (alprazolam – commonly known as Xanax)
State Police said Viano will be presented as a probation violator with relation two multiple previous convictions for possession of child pornography.
Viano was previously convicted on those charges in 2014 and 2016, and has twice failed to register as a sex offender.
