Warwick, R.I — A piece of Rhode Island history has been repaired.

The new Rocky Point Arch was unveiled Monday afternoon after the Rocky Point Foundation was awarded $5,000 to fund the improvements.

The historic arch, which had fallen into a state of disrepair, served as the entrance and exit to the former amusement park.

Now, the lead paint and rust has been removed and the 60-foot-high arch has been given a new life.

“This is an exciting day for Rocky Point and the city, as an iconic symbol of our past is restored,” said Mayor Avedisian.

Rocky point amusement park has been closed for 20 years.
