Roger Williams Park Zoo announces birth of baby tamandua

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Roger Williams Park Zoo announced the birth of a baby tamandua on Monday.
The unnamed pup was born on May 6, to parents Carina and Salvador.
The zoo’s animal wellness team has been monitoring the mother and pup behind the scenes, performing daily wellness checks to be sure that the baby is developing healthily.
The pup is a Southern tamandua, also called the lesser anteater, an arboreal relative of the anteater, according to the zoo.
