Roger Williams Park Zoo welcomes Zan the red panda

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Roger Williams Park Zoo announced they’re welcoming a new member to their family on Wednesday.

The zoo said Zan, a three-year-old red panda joined Rusty, their current red panda, after traveling from the Woodland Park Zoo.

The pairing of Zan and Rusty was a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Red Panda Species Survival Program.

Officials at the Roger Williams Park Zoo also said their red panda habitat is getting a complete redesign and is expected to be complete in Spring of next year.
