Salvation Café in Newport reopens after being shut down for cracks in the wall.

Owner Sue Lamond says her building is safe and will be open on Wednesday after authorizes evacuated it after discovering cracks in the neighboring exterior wall.

Apartments upstairs were also temporally evacuated and a portion of the street was closed on Tuesday.

The wall, which was a firewall next to the restaurant, was taken down as a safety measure.

Lamond credits the cracks in the wall to the construction being done on street.
