School buses in Warwick will pick up students Friday, spokesperson for union says
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – School buses in Warwick will arrive Friday morning after the president of the local transportation union signed extension through Friday.
Steve Sousa, spokesperson for the Rhode Island chapter of the Amalgamated Transit Union told ABC6 the union and the bus company, First Student, are currently voting to ratify a contract.
“There is no chance of a strike tomorrow,” Sousa said to ABC6.
The meeting comes after a week of headache for Warwick parents, when buses unexpectedly did not show up at the start of a dispute between the union and First Student. \
