Crews scouting locations for the Vinny Paz movie

Rhode Island boxing legend Vinny Paz won several major fights at what is now the Dunkin Donut's Center in Providence. The venue is on the list of locations being scouted for the movie that will tell the story of the champ, who over came a broken neck to, again, fight for a world title.

“This is cool. Like old times here at the Providence Civic Center. Man, it brings back memories,” Paz said at a press conference.

When the film hits the silver screen, local movie go-ers will likely recognize many of the places used in the film. 'Bleed for This' will be shot right here in Little Rhody. The first round of locations includes Lincoln's Twin River, Providence's Gregg's, and Cranston's Park Theatre and St. Mary's Church.

“Being able to go to the locations where a lot of these events happened, it just brings so much more authenticity to the film,” said Noah Kraft, Producer.

The 16-million dollar project has already scored some major Hollywood heavy weights including Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook), Emma Tillinger Koskoff, and Ben Younger (Boiler Room, Prime).

Oscar Winning director, Martin Scorsese (The Departed, Goodfellas) has also signed on.

“It's not just being done, its being done to the biggest level,” said Paz of the talent.

Producers have a dream cast in mind, but so far mum is the word.

“You're going to have some great names, big names, but I just think Marty is going to throw everyone a curve ball and its going to be like, wow!” said Chad Verdi, Executive Producer.

As for who will play the 5-time world champ?

“I don't know. I just hope they get somebody good looking who can act. I don't even care if he can fight,” said Paz.

The film is working on an ambitious schedule. They hope to begin shooting this fall and have everything wrapped by May 2014.
