WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — After almost a week of searching, the body of Michael Neary has been found in the woods of West Greenwich on Wednesday, according to a source connected to the search.

The body of the 50-year-old Coventry man was found by a volunteer searcher in the Big River Management area. The source connected to the search told ABC6 News that a volunteer was riding her bike with her dog, when the dog picked up the scent and alerted her to the body.

The spot in Big River Management area where the body was found is less than two miles from where Neary car was left unattended.

Rhode Island State Police confirmed a body was found in the Big River Management area in a press release Wednesday night.

"An autopsy will be performed Thursday morning to confirm the identity of the recovered body, as well as to determine the cause and manner of death," the press release read.

State police do not suspect foul play.

Neary was reported missing the morning Aug. 3. Law enforcement search parties combed a mile and a half of woods near the end of Burnt Sawmill Road in West Greenwich for five days before suspending the search Tuesday afternoon. Family, friends and volunteers then took over the search.
